I have been working in the entertainment world for many years, having graduated from US Entertainment Management. I participate in and am interested in many shows and have come up with good content for the show - an idea I would like to sell to our TV or foreign channels. But how can I protect the idea of the show itself, because if I tell it in detail, it can be appropriated?

First of all, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that according to Article 5 of the Law on Copyright and Related Rights of the Republic of Lithuania, it should be noted that ideas are not considered to be the object of copyright. Accordingly, the ideas are not protected by copyright. On the other hand, if the idea is presented as a script, this could be protected by copyright. In the event that only an idea that is not protected by copyright is sold, it is advisable to sign detailed confidentiality agreements obliging the parties to respect the confidentiality provisions and not to use the information provided, not to copy it, including provisions on damages for illegal actions.
